English for Business Communication

After completing this course, students will be able to:
1. Act in the simulated business events by using English for communicating appropriately.
2. Apply English communication properly in real business situations.
3. Know much more business vocabulary for appropriate action confidently.
4. Have positive attitudes towards English subject, and to understand English culture.
6. Do more independent study surfing the Internet for their life education, further education, and their future careers.          
               1. To enable the students to apply English for Business Communication in higher education and future careers. 
               2. To improve and develop teaching method and materials in accordance with global society focusing on independent study, nurturing the sense of responsibility, and self-discipline.
               3.  To develop students’ analytical and critical skills with information technology to foster logical thinking.
Course Description: This course is a continuation of English 2 whereby students study and practice in oral and written English using business-related topics. The course is also designed to train students to improve their language skills in English, including reading, writing, listening, and  speaking. In addition, the course focuses on developing business English skills for using confidently in business communication: reading business vocabulary, business extracts, writing business letters, cover letters, reports, resumes, complaints, response to complaints of customers, etc. Business English speaking skills include preparing for job interviews, making appointment, checking information, making agreement, preparing presentations, etc.
            1. Inform the students in class, on website, or on the faculty board about guidance periods.
            2. Students make appointment with the instructor.
            3. The instructor provides 1-2 hours for individual/group guidance.

1.   Morals and Ethics

 1.2.1 Fix the dates and times of assignment submission clearly.    1.2.2 Teach them how to summarize, conclude, or paraphrase passages.
 1.2.3 Oral discussions. The teacher presents students with a “focus” question and allows an open discussion on the topic.   1.2.4 Mind mapping, interviewing, and giving a presentation of their short essay. 
 1.2.5 Hand-on activities: encourage the students to manipulate their environments                          giving them positive reinforcements.
 1.2.6 Implant self-discipline, rules, regulations, and social etiquette in  working with peers.

  2.2.1 A lesson is taught in a constructivist and student-centered procedures, with the facilitator mediating learning rather than directly teaching the class- give guidelines of journal writing for independent- study.

  2.2.4  Mind mapping, individual work, pair work, and group work.
